Duffhuis Tabbed to All-ECAC Team

DANBURY, Conn. - Sophomore Julia Duffhuis of the Delaware field hockey team was named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Field Hockey Team Wednesday.
Duffhuis adds All-ECACÂ to her long list of accolades from this season. She earned her first career All-American Second Team honor and was tabbed to the Synapse Sports Division I All-American Third Team as well.
The Bergeijk, The Netherlands native was named to the NFHCA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, named CAA Defensive Player of the Year, earned a spot on the All-CAA First Team and was named CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player.Â
A key member of the Blue Hen's defense, Duffhuis appeared in all 22 games for the Blue Hens, making 21 starts. She led the team in goals (13) and points (29). Her 0.59 goals per game average ranked 31st in NCAA Division I, while her 1.32 points per game average ranked 47th.
Duffhuis ranked third in the CAA in both points (29) and points per game. She became the second player in Delaware history to be tabbed conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Duffhuis was one of 11 student-athletes selected to the Division I squad. She was joined by CAA rival Eveline Zwager of James Madison.Â
The ECACÂ is an 82-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast.
