Three More Added to Football Coaching Staff

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware football head coach Ryan Carty has announced the addition of three more coaches to his staff. Carty has added Chris Buckner and Art Link, while Tyler Ferguson will remain with the Blue Hens in his role of offensive quality control assistant.
Chris Buckner, Wide Receivers Coach, Passing Game and Recruiting Coordinator
Chris Buckner joins the Blue Hens after two seasons at Sam Houston, the 2020-21 national champions, where he coached the running backs and was the recruiting coordinator. Buckner coached at Southern Miss from February 2019 – January 2020. He coached the outside receivers at Arkansas State from March 2018 – January 2019, where ASU ranked first in the Sun Belt Conference in total offense, pass offense, and scoring offense. Buckner had previous coaching stops at Western New Mexico (March 2016 – March 2018), North Carolina Central (January 2014 – March 2016), Savannah State (January 2013 – December 2013), Jackson State (January 2011 – June 2013). He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Jackson State in 2010 working with the wide receivers. Buckner played defensive back and wide receiver at New Mexico State from 2006-09.

Art Link, Safeties Coach and Special Teams Coordinator
Art Link comes to Delaware after serving as the head football coach at Christopher Newport University since January of 2017. In 2021, he coached the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, Matt Dzierski. During his time at CNU, Link coached two All-Americans, four all-region players and a total of 42 all-conference honorees. From 2014-16, Link was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Lafayette College. He worked with Carty at New Hampshire from 2012-13 as the linebackers coach. Link's previous stops include Campbell (2007-11), and Catholic University of America (2006-07). Link began his coaching experience with a graduate assistant position at the University of Florida, where he coached the linebackers from 2004-06. Link played collegiately at Florida, where he was a member of the national championship team in 1996.

Tyler Ferguson, Offensive Quality Control
Tyler Ferguson will remain on staff as offensive quality control, a position that he held during the 2021 season. Prior to joining the staff at Delaware, Ferguson coached at the high school level in Maryland, spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Bohemia Manor High School and the 2019 season at Kent County High School.
