Ty Battle Earns CAA Player of the Week Nod

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced Monday that Delaware forward Ty Battle is the CAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Battle averaged 15.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 assists in two wins over Drexel on Feb. 12 and 14. The redshirt junior knocked down 59.1% (13-22) of her field goal attempts over the weekend, and recorded a double-double in each game.
The Plainfield, Ill., native has 12 double-doubles this season, tied for the fifth-most in Division I and more than double the amount of any other player in the CAA.
Delaware has swept six of its seven CAA series this year, and at 13-1 in conference play, has the most CAA wins in a season since the 2012-13 squad went 18-0 in the league on the way to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. The Blue Hens have more than double the number of wins of any other CAA team.
Battle is the third Blue Hen to earn a Player of the Week nod from the CAA this year after Paris McBride earned the honor on Dec. 7 and Jasmine Dickey won on Dec. 14, Jan. 11, and Jan. 18. Delaware has won the award the most of any CAA school this year.
The Blue Hens return to action this weekend with a two-game series at James Madison on Feb. 20 and 21. Both games from Harrisonburg, Va., tip off at 6 p.m.
