Delaware Blows Past Fordham In WNIT First Round, 77-49

Blue Hens secure school's first WNIT win, powered by Dickey's 22 points
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Delaware women's basketball secured its first Postseason WNIT win in program history Friday afternoon, cruising past Fordham, 77-49, inside Bojangles Coliseum.
Junior guard Jasmine Dickey led the way for the Blue Hens (22-4) with 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Three other Delaware players joined Dickey in double figures in the dominant win. Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle poured in 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go with eight boards and a block, senior forward Lizzie Oleary collected 11 points and 8 rebounds, and tied a career high with three steals, while junior point guard Paris McBride posted 10 points, four assists and three steals.
Delaware had a quality shooting day, knocking down 45.2% (33-73) of its field goal attempts, including 43.8% (7-16) from three-point range.
The Blue Hens also locked down defensively, limiting Fordham (12-5) to just 36.5% (19-52) from the floor and 12.5% (3-24) from beyond the arc. Delaware forced the Rams into 22 turnovers, including 15 steals, which the Blue Hens converted into 24 points.
After Dickey scored the first seven points of the game for Delaware, junior guard Jewel Smalls drained a corner three to put the Blue Hens in front 10-7 with 4:06 left in the first quarter, a lead they never relinquished.
Delaware held a 39-26 lead at halftime, fueled by 18 first-half points from Dickey, who shot 75% percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. The Blue Hens outscored the Rams 17-8 in the third quarter to seal the win, highlighted by a 9-0 run that included a trey and two assists from McBride.
