RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 8 University of Delaware football team has earned a weekly CAA honor after each week it has played this season after the latest installment was announced Monday morning, awarding sophomore Chase McGowan as the co-Defensive Player of the Week and redshirt senior Dejoun Lee as the Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
McGowan lived in the Rhode Island backfield Saturday, totaling four tackles all for a loss. He had three sacks on the afternoon which ranks tied for third-most in program history in a single game, and a tackle for loss.
Â
Lee became the eighth player in program history to rush for 200 yards in a single game, going for 221 on 22 carries with touchdowns of 74 and 35 yards. The 221 yards ranks sixth-most by a Blue Hen in a single game and checks in at third-most in the FCS this season. It was the 15th occasion a Delaware player has rushed for over 200 yards.
Â
The two played a big part in Delaware's 35-21 win over No. 18 Rhode Island and in controlling the ball for 41:34, the second-longest time of possession in program history.
Â
The Blue Hens return to Delaware Stadium for a noon kickoff Saturday against UAlbany. Ticket information can be found here.
