Blue Hens Sweep Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

RICHMOND, Va. - The Delaware women's tennis team swept this week's CAA Honors.
Sophomore Eliza Askarova was awarded CAA women's tennis Player of the Week and the Blue Hens' team of sophomores Jojo Bach and Isabella Montana were named Doubles Team of the Week.
Askarova was honored as the CAA women's tennis Player of the Week after going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in Delaware's conference wins over Drexel (5-1) and Towson (6-1). In singles, the sophomore beat the Dragons' Sarka Richterova, 6-2, 6-3, and the Tigers' Themis Haliou, 6-0, 7-6 (1). In doubles, she and partner Sarah Whited posted a 6-1 win against Drexel and a 6-2 victory against Towson.
Bach and Montana were named the CAA women's Doubles Team of the Week after clinching the doubles point in both conference victories over Drexel and Towson. Competing at the No. 2 position, the Blue Hens' duo beat the Dragons' Cristina Corte Gonzalez and Isabel Cabrerizo, 6-2, and followed with another 6-2 triumph over the Tigers' Sarah Pospischill and Jessica Assenmacher. With the two wins, Delaware improved to 7-0 as a team this spring.
