WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Delaware men's tennis team fought hard this morning but was unable to come away with a victory as the Blue Hens fell 4-1 to James Madison in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship, held Friday at the Millie West Tennis Facility on the campus of William & Mary.
"We left it all on the courts today and unfortunately we came up a little short," said Delaware Head Men's Tennis Coach Pablo Montana. "Congrats to Coach Secord and his players as they competed extremely well and were the better team today. Overall it was a good season and I'm so thankful for my players and staff for all their hard work and for trusting the process. We will learn from this experience and I have no doubt we will come back stronger next season."
James Madison was able to earn the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The Dukes earned singles wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 to secure the 4-1 victory and advance to the semifinals. Delaware picked up a victory on court No. 5 where Luis Molina topped William Karpinski 7-6 (0), 6-3.
The Blue Hens end the season with a 7-3 overall record, a 4-0 mark at home, and having won four of their last five matches.
