NEWARK, Del. – Delaware Athletics staff and student-athletes pitched in on Thursday and Friday to help students move in to their dorms on campus. It was the first time in over a year that Move-In Day was taking place and the appreciation from the students and families to have UD Athletics assist them in the process was great.
"Move-In Day 2021 was a huge SUCCESS!!!!!," said women's basketball head coach Natasha Adair. "Blue Hen student-athletes and coaches joined together to lend a hand to our incoming students. I'm so grateful to be a part of our community that lives to serve others."
Isaiah Bell from men's swimming and diving was ecstatic when he shared, "It's really great to have freshmen here back on campus. It's a good day to come out and help them get settled into campus and on a beautiful day."
The Bob Carpenter Center served as the check-in site for room keys and UD ID pick-up for all resident students before heading to their residence halls to unload their belongings.
Upon arrival, athletics staff and student-athletes were there to help carry everything from bins to baskets to boxes up flights of stairs to help make the move-in process smooth for the students.
"It was really awesome to meet the girls and their families and help them get adjusted to UD and welcome them here for the first time." Riley, Gillin, Women's Lacrosse
The first day of classes for UD students is Tuesday, August 31.
Delaware Athletics hopes to see students and families at events throughout the school year for its 21 varsity sports teams.
