An Update for Delaware Football Fans
9/7/2021 5:00:00 PM | Football, Delaware Athletics
We are very excited to welcome back fans to Delaware Stadium this Saturday for our 2021 fall home opener. As you would expect, the University of Delaware is doing all that it can to protect the health and safety of all members of our community and the following new protocols were announced by the University on Friday. We hope the precautionary measures we are taking will make you feel more comfortable cheering on UD with your fellow Blue Hen fans.Â
Consistent with how we are protecting UD students, faculty and staff, we are requiring all attendees at our home football games, ages 12 and older, to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR coronavirus test taken within 72 hours of the event. "Full vaccination" means that guests have received their final COVID-19 vaccine dose at least 14 days in advance of the day of the game. Authentic proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test will be accepted as long as the test was taken within 72 hours of the day of the game through a medical or accredited company; please note that "at home tests" will not be accepted.Â
Guests can present a paper copy of their vaccination card or negative test results at the entry gate, OR show an electronic copy of their vaccination card or negative test results on their smart phones. Adults will also need to show valid identification matching the vaccination card/test results.
In addition, all event attendees and participants — including UD students, faculty and staff — will need to complete the UD Daily Health Check and show the green check display reflecting health clearance for venue access.Â
Face masks are recommended to be worn when you cannot physically distance yourself from others in the stadium or surrounding areas.Â
Face masks are required to be worn when inside any buildings, including club areas. Food will be served in the newly built Stadium Club but guests will need to eat and drink outside so that face masks can be worn inside at all times. Food will not be served in the Bob Carpenter Club this season, but the Club will be open for Delaware Diamond Society members to watch the game.Â
While children under the age of 12 do not need to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry, it is the University's expectation that all attendees aged 2-11 years old wear face masks at UD outdoor events.Â
The University will continually evaluate its event attendance policy in consultation with public health guidance. For more information about UD's health and safety guidelines, please visit www.udel.edu/coronavirus.Â
Information for Delaware Athletics non-football sporting events will be released next week.
