CAA Hosts Annual Women's Basketball Media Day presented by BuyB1.com

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) hosted its annual women's basketball media day virtually Thursday morning and the University of Delaware women's basketball squad didn't disappoint. The defending conference champions were represented by first-year head coach Sarah Jenkins and alongside her was junior guard Tara Cousins.
Ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, the Blue Hens were projected to finish sixth (92 votes) according to the preseason coaches' poll announced Thursday morning. 2022 CAA tournament finalist Drexel was selected as the favorite to hoist the conference championship, garnering 142 votes (10 first place votes). Following Drexel in the number two slot is Charleston with 125 votes (one first place vote) and new conference member Stony Brook was projected to finish third with 108 votes. Elon (103) and Towson (99, two first place votes) rounds out the top five. With Delaware defending their title sitting in sixth, William & Mary (81), Northeastern (70), North Carolina A&T (58), Hampton (43), Monmouth (43), UNCW (28) and Hofstra (22) were selected to finish seventh through 13th, respectively.
Delaware's 52nd season will tip-off on Nov. 7 with a road showdown in Farmville, Va. against Longwood for the first time in program history. The Blue Hens will open their home slate on Nov. 10 when they welcome Columbia into the friendly confines of Bob Carpenter Center. Delaware will open conference play at home on Dec. 30 against Hofstra and will have a title game rematch against Drexel on Jan. 6 in Philadelphia. Delaware has put together a strong showing on their home court, holding a 20-2 record over the past two seasons inside the Bob.
