NEWARK, Del. - Director of Athletics, Community and Campus Recreation Chrissi Rawak announced today that head women's soccer coach Mike Barroqueiro has resigned from his position.
"I am grateful for Mike and all that he has done for the women's soccer program and our department," said Rawak. "Our women's soccer student-athletes have excelled in the classroom and community during Mike's time at UD. We appreciate the impact that he has made on the Blue Hen women's soccer program during his six years in Newark."
Barroqueiro became the Delaware women's soccer head coach in January of 2017. His student-athletes have performed well over the years in the classroom, maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, including a 3.234 GPA this past spring.
"I'd like to thank the University of Delaware, our Administration & Department Staff, all my coaching colleagues, & most importantly, all the wonderful players, past and present for their hard work and support to make Delaware Women's Soccer a special place," said Barroqueiro. "I'll always cherish all the moments I experienced here and UD will always hold a special place in my heart."
During Barroqueiro's time, he coached one CAA Defensive Player of the Year, in addition, his players earned two All-CAA First Team, five All-CAA Second Team, and five All-CAA Third
Team accolades. Four players were named to the All-Rookie Team, while two student-athletes received CAA All-Tournament honors.
A national search will begin immediately.
