UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – After placing fifth at the CAA Championship, Delaware sent its top seven runners to Penn State to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
The Blue Hens had to navigate rainy weather throughout the race, as the downpour picked up just after the runners crossed the mile marker.
In her final cross country race, Autumn Sands crossed the finish line with a time of 22:00.1, good for 62nd overall and first among Blue Hen runners.
Also placing in the top 100 were Sarah Daniels (64th, 22:03.5), Nina Sgambelluri (71st, 22:08.7) and Hannah Lindgren (95th, 22:38.8).
Georgetown earned the team title, scoring 37 points. West Virginia placed second with a score of 75, and Penn rounded out the scoring three with 106. West Virginia junior Ceili McCabe earned the individual title, placing first with a time of 19:58.3.
"Today was one of those days where it was all about having heart," head coach Kenyetta Iyevbele said. "I'm extremely proud of the girls and how they executed. We're going to continue to move forward."
This closes the 2022 cross country season for Delaware, as the track & field season opens in December.
