Duffhuis Repeats, Blue Hens Notch Six All-Conference Accolades

RICHMOND, Va. - Delaware field hockey earned six Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) postseason awards, the league announced on Thursday.
The Blue Hens earned Defensive Player of the Year, three All-CAA First Team awards, and two CAA All-Rookie Team awards.
Junior Julia Duffhuis was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-CAA First Team for the second year in a row. The Bergeijk, Netherlands native was tied for sixth in the CAA in goals with eight, eighth in points with 18, and added two assists. She is the first player since Janell Holmes to win back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2013 & 2014.
Junior Ashlyn Carr was named to the All-CAA First Team for the third year in a row. The Delmar, Del. native was tied for third in the CAA in assists with eight, was tied for 14th in points with 12, and added two goals. She finished the season with four assists over the Blue Hens' last four games.
Berber Bakermans was named to the All-CAA First Team for the first time in her career. The Best, Netherlands native finished the year tied for third in the CAA, along with Carr, in assists with eight, was tied for ninth in points with 16, and added four goals. The junior finished the season scoring two goals, and adding four assists in the Blue Hens' final four games.
Bakermans was named Co-CAA Player of the Week back on Oct. 24 in a weekend where she scored one goal and added four assists. The junior was selected to the CAA All-Rookie Team and All-Tournament team in 2020.
Noelle Sabbagh and Lia Becker were named to the CAA All-Rookie Team. Sabbagh scored five goals and added one assist for the season. She was awarded CAA Rookie of the Week twice back on Sept. 12 for scoring three goals in a weekend, and on Oct. 10 when she scored the game-winning goal with under two minutes against William & Mary. Becker was tied for second in the CAA among freshmen in assists with six and added two goals. She was credited with two assists in the Blue Hens' win against William & Mary.
