Askarova, Abidullina Advance to Round of 16 at ITA Fall National Championships

SAN DIEGO – Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Eliza Askarova advanced to the ITA Fall National Championships round of 16 with a victory over Iowa State on Wednesday. The match ended around 10:30 p.m. eastern with the Blue Hens victorious over the ITA Central Region Doubles Champions of Chie Kezuka and Ange Oby Kajuru.

"The girls competed hard against a strong Iowa State team today and were able to step up in the big moments," assistant coach Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell said. "I'm very proud of the fight and energy today and the way they handled themselves on the court. Another good opportunity to compete again tomorrow."

After becoming the first Blue Hens in program history to advance to the ITA Fall National Championships, Abidullina and Askarova won with a score of 6-4, 1-6 (11-9) to continue their historic run.

The round of 16 is set to take place on Thursday, November 3 at 7 p.m. EST with a match against Louisiana State.
