Four Blue Hens Selected to NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All Region Team

GENEVA, N.Y. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association named four Delaware field hockey athletes to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Team, the league announced on Tuesday. The Blue Hens had two athletes selected to the first team, and two athletes selected to the second team.

Junior defender Julia Duffhuis earned her third-career NFHCA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honor. She was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season, was a First Team All-CAA honoree, and named to the CAA All-Tournament team. Duffhuis led the Blue Hens in goals with 14 and added four assists. She registered a goal in six of the Blue Hens final seven games, including her first career hat trick against Northeastern in the CAA Semifinals.Â

Senior midfielder Ashlyn Carr earns a spot in the Mid-Atlantic Region First Team. She was selected to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Second Team in 2021. Carr was a CAA First Team All-Conference honoree and was named the CAA Tournament MVP. She finished the season second on the team in assists with 14 and added four goals. The Delmar, Del. Native registered an assist in seven of her last eight games, with three assists against Northeastern in the CAA Semifinals.

Junior midfielder Berber Bakermans was selected to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team for the second time in her career. Bakermans was a CAA First Team honoree and named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on October 24. The Best, Netherlands native led the Blue Hens and the CAA in assists with 17, adding four goals. She was credited with 13 assists over her final seven games, including three games with three assists.

Junior forward Kiki Oudshoorn was selected to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second team in back-to-back seasons. The Ede, Netherlands native was also named to the CAA All-Tournament team. Oudshoorn scored three goals and added nine assists. She was credited with four assists over the last five games of the season.
