NEWARK, Del. – A pair of University of Delaware football student-athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom on Tuesday as wide receiver Josh Moran and defensive lineman Tommy Walsh were both named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative 3.50 through at least one year at their current institution, unless a graduate transfer, and must be a starter or key reserve that has played in at least 75 percent of their team's games.
Moran, a graduate transfer in his first season in a Blue Hen uniform, is currently working on his second master's degree in international business. The Alpharetta, Ga. Native received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia in 2020 with a cumulative 3.73 GPA. He then received his MBA from New Mexico State with a 3.55 GPA. Moran has appeared in all 11 games for the Blue Hens this season, recording five catches for 61 yards. He has also been a force on special teams, making four tackles as part of several units.
Walsh, a fifth-year senior, owns a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a finance major. The Warrington, Pa. native has appeared in all 11 games with 10 starts in 2022. He is among the team leaders in tackles (29) and TFL (3.0) while also recording a sack and a forced fumble. A model of consistency on the defensive line, Walsh has appeared in 41 of Delaware's 42 games over the past four seasons, recording 92 total tackles, 13.5 TFL and 3.0 sacks.
The 2022 CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
