Men’s Swimming and Diving CAA Championship Runner-Up

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The Delaware men's swimming and diving team saw its best program finish in the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships finishing second with a score of 643 of five teams. The Blue Hens earned a total of 12 medals throughout the week, five of which were earned today.
"Extremely proud of both our teams," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "They had an incredible week, they fought extremely hard and achieved great things for Delaware. They weathered the storm early on and handled themselves with a lot of poise in the water and on the boards. The strides they have taken in the last few years has been impressive to witness and we coaches are incredibly humbled for being part of it."
Freshman Gavin Currie claimed the men's lone gold medal of the week, winning the 200 Back with a time of 1:45.38. Andrew Taylor won his second bronze medal of the week in the 1650 Free. He placed third with a time of 15:43.06.
The Sabev brothers each earned a medal on the final day of the meet. Tonislav Sabev earned a bronze medal in the 200 Breast with a time of 1:58.34. Simeon Sabev also earned a bronze medal in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:46.40.
The men capped off a very successful week earning a third-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. Ryan Polino, Miguel Vasquez, Toni Sabev and Luke Rautzhan earned bronze medals with a time of 2:57.73.
