Alina Vasilenko Named CAA Co-Player of the Week

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women's tennis freshman Alina Vasilenko has been named the CAA Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The award recognizes Vasilenko's performances in UD's two most recent matches during their Spring Break trip.
Vasilenko improved her singles record to 15-0 with a pair of three-set victories at No. 2 singles in matches against CAA foe Charleston and Charleston Southern last week. The freshman got past Charleston's Halli Trinkle, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, to even the team score at 3-3. Against CSU, Vasilenko saved four match points and pulled out a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 win over Madalina Man as the Blue Hens rallied from a 3-0 deficit to capture the contest, 4-3. Vasilenko and partner Dominika Sujova also won at No. 1 doubles against CSU to move to 13-1 on the year.
The Blue Hens will be back in action on Thursday when the squad makes the short trip to Towson for a CAA matchup.
