NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team continues to fine-tune itself as the squad nears the end of its spring practice schedule. The Blue Hens completed their 12th practice on Saturday as they work closer to next weekend's Spring Game.
On a brisk and overcast morning, the Blue & Gold had a lot of energy as the team spent the entirety of practice on the outdoor practice fields. The day started with individual positional work as each side of the ball continued to work on perfecting the fundamentals.
After the team stretch, the Blue Hens immediately went into a goal-line scenario as the offense attempted to punch the ball into the endzone in a full-contact, 11-on-11 drill against the defense. The majority of the first half of practice went back into positional drills with some special teams work and 7-on-7 action sprinkled in.
The second half of practice featured a lot of 11-on-11 play, as the first and second units on each side of the ball battled up and down the field. Periods of more special teams drills – featuring punt and kickoff return formations as well as punt blocking techniques – broke up the action, but the intensity never dipped.
What They're Saying
"Every practice has been a grind and today was no different. I definitely feel that everyone is working hard to get better on both sides of the ball and bringing a ton of energy. Practice gets intense with good competition because that's the key to making the whole team better. " – Defensive Lineman Jordan Morris
" I feel as though everyone on the team goes 100 percent every rep no matter if it's an individual drill or a team period. As far as the offense goes, Coach Carty and Coach Pierce have been doing an amazing job with getting the offense going, motivating everyone to do better while having fun. I couldn't ask for anything else. " – Running Back Marcus Yarns
