NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware offensive lineman David Kroll has the opportunity to continue his dream of playing in the NFL as he has received invites to compete in rookie minicamps for both the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts.
Kroll will travel to Chicago this weekend to participate in the Bears' minicamp, May 6-8, before taking part in the Colts' minicamp next weekend in Indianapolis. He will look to impress both organizations with the goal of signing a contract to attend fall training camp
"It means the world to even have a chance to make it at the next level," Kroll said. "Ever since I started to play football at 7 years old, I wanted to play in the NFL. It's truly an honor to just have a foot in the door, now I just have to make it the rest of the way."
Kroll capped an amazing career in the Blue & Gold, earning three All-America nods in 2021 to give him six total selections for his career. The Reston, Va. Native was named to the Phil Steele FCS All-America Second Team, the HERO Sports 2021 FCS All-America Second Team and the Stats Perform FCS All-America Third Team. He was selected to the All-CAA First Team for the second-consecutive season. Following the 2020-21 spring campaign, Kroll received First Team All-America selections from Stats Perform, AP and Athlon Sports.
He started all 11 games in 2021 at left tackle to anchor Delaware's offensive line. The Blue Hens averaged 119.7 yards per game on the ground, and had an All-CAA selection at running back for the third-straight season. Kroll, who was also a key member of the UD's punt unit, started each of the last 20 games for the Blue Hens and appeared in 53 games overall to tie a program record.
