NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Football Head Coach Ryan Carty has announced the addition of Haley Alioto to the staff. Alioto, a 2022 UD graduate, will work with the Blue Hens as a Football Operations Assistant, becoming the first woman to serve as an operations administrator within the program.
"I am extremely excited and proud to welcome Haley onto our staff as the first female administrator in our football operations," said Carty. "Haley brings a wealth of experience to our program having performed three internships with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Delaware Football. The ability to bring back a former student-athlete alum is always special."
No stranger to the Blue & Gold, Alioto served as an operations intern with the football program during her final semester last spring. In her role, she assisted General Manager Brett Arnold with all of the day-to-day football operations, including recruiting, official visits, team travel, scheduling and business operations.
Alioto has had two internships with the Pittsburgh Steelers, serving as a communications intern during the summer of 2021 where she worked with the team's media relations staff during training camp. In 2019, she also worked Steelers' training camp, assisting in the operations and with the on-field personnel.
Outside of football, Alioto spent the spring of 2021 with the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer as a game day operations & special events intern.
Alioto graduated from the University of Delaware in May 2022 with a degree in sports management and a minor in event management. While at UD, she was a member of the synchronized skating team while also serving as the club's vice president and competition secretary. Alioto helped lead the Blue Hens to their 21st East Coast Synchronized Skating Championship as well as the 2020 National Pewter Medalists.
"I am very grateful to Coach Carty, Jerry Oravitz and Brett Arnold to have been given this opportunity to not only return to my alma mater but also to be the first woman to serve as an administrator in Delaware's football operations," said Alioto. "I am excited to help create a championship program on and off the field. Go Blue Hens!"
The Blue & Gold, which is ranked No. 15 in the HERO Sports Preseason FCS Poll and No. 20 in the 2022 Athlon Sports FCS Preseason Top 25, will open the 2022 season and the Ryan Carty era on Saturday, September 3 at Navy. The Blue Hens will play the first of six home games the following weekend when they host Delaware State to renew the Route 1 Rivalry on September 10. Kickoff at Delaware Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
