Football Keeps Climbing National Rankings

NEWARK, Del. – For the second-straight week, the University of Delaware football team moved up in the national FCS polls and the Blue Hens now sit in the top 10 of both. In the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, the Blue & Gold moved up one spot to No. 9 while, in the AFCA Coaches Poll, Delaware climbed from No. 13 to No. 10.
The Blue Hens defeated Delaware State 35-9 on Saturday in the Route 1 Rivalry matchup. In front of 17,176 fans at Delaware Stadium, UD racked up 400 yards of offense to win its fourth-consecutive home opener. Nolan Henderson completed a career-high 21 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Braden Brose. Marcus Yarns registered 99 yards on the ground, including an 82-yard touchdown run which is Delaware's longest since 2015.

Delaware will head back out on the road as the squad opens CAA play at Rhode Island on Saturday, September 17. Kickoff in The Ocean State is set for 1 p.m.
