Sara D'Appolonia Signs With Peninsula Power FC

NEWARK, Del. - Former Delaware women's soccer player Sara D'Appolonia has signed with Peninsula Power FC.
"I've always had aspirations to play at the professional level and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue my playing career beyond college," D'Appolonia said. "I think this experience will be another stepping stone in my soccer journey and I am ecstatic to travel to a new country and be immersed in a different culture. My time at the University of Delaware provided me with experiences to develop not only as a player but also as a person. The skills I developed while at UD I will be able to carry with me through life."
D'Appolonia was a two-time All-CAA member during her career as a Blue Hen, and was also named to the All-CAA Tournament team during the 2019 season. Over a five-year career that spanned 74 games, scored 18 goals and handed out seven assists. She scored seven game-winning goals over her career. D'Appolonia led the Blue Hens in goals scored in each of the last four seasons as well, During the 2019 season, she scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in the 3-2 overtime win over No. 2 seed UNCW in the CAA Tournament. She was also a CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.Â
"Each and every one of my teammates and coaches as well as those I worked with in the athletic department and in the surrounding communities had an impact on my growth and I am thankful for all of them," D'Appolonia said. "It's been a pleasure to represent something bigger than myself and to be given the chance to continue doing so with a new team. I am extremely humbled and hope to make Delaware proud. Forever a Blue Hen."
