Football Adds Eight Newcomers on National Signing Day

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team welcomed in eight additions to the program during Wednesday’s National Signing Day. The eight newcomers, who are all members of the Delaware Class of 2028, include five offensive players and three on the defensive side of the ball. All of the signees were team captains of their high school programs and all eight are multi-sport athletes.

Bio: Three-year starter at Red Bank Catholic High School, serving as a team captain his senior year … Earned team rookie of the year honors in 2021 and was a two-time All-Shore Second Team selection as a junior and senior … Helped lead Red Bank Catholic to state championships in 2021 and 2023 … Also a two-time captain of the basketball team … In the classroom, was an honor roll student … Mother, Denise, swam at South Carolina.

Bio: Three-year starter at Middletown South High School, playing both linebacker and running back and serving as a team captain in both his junior and senior years … Helped lead Middletown South to a division championship in 2021 … Was a two-time All-Shore First Team selection and named the All-Shore Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 after finishing his junior season with 149 tackles, 27.0 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … Finished career with 269 total tackles (130 solo), 45.5 TFLs, 19.0 sacks, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and an interception … On the offensive side of the ball, rushed for 1,338 yards and 17 touchdowns in his career … Also played lacrosse, earning All-Shore Second Team honors, and was on the track & field team … In the classroom, was a high honors student and a member of the National Honor Society … Father, Justin, played football at UPenn.

In the classroom, was an honor roll student.

Bio: Was a member of the football team at Thomas Dale High School, serving as a team captain in both his junior and senior years … Named the 6A Offensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2023 after finishing with 1,947 all-purpose yards and 16 total touchdowns … Finished career with 1,076 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns as well as 1,310 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns … On special teams, accounted for 885 career kick return yards, including 453 as a senior, and 247 career punt return yards … Also a member of the track & field team, winning a state championship in the 55-meters … Brother, Chris, played football at Notre Dame and Virginia.

Bio: Four-year starter at Shore Regional High School, playing both tight end and defensive line and serving as a team captain as a senior … Was twice named team MVP and helped lead Shore Regional to division championships in 2022 and 2023 … Two-time division defensive player of the year and was a two-time All-Shore selection as a defensive lineman in 2022 (second team) and 2023 (first team) … Finished career with 30 receptions for 463 yards and six touchdowns … Defensively, finished with 202 tackles, 51.0 TFLS and a school-record 19.0 sacks … Also played basketball and lacrosse, earning all-state honorable mention honors in lacrosse … In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society.
The Blue Hens wrapped up the 2023 season with a 9-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in CAA play, advancing to the second round of the FCS Championship for the second-straight season. The nine wins were the most since the 2010 season and it is the first time UD has had consecutive eight-win campaigns since 2003-04.
Delaware will officially join Conference USA on July 1, 2025 as a full-league member. As they begin the two-year transition process, the Blue Hens will play an FCS schedule in 2024 that will be announced in the coming weeks. Deposits for 2024 season ticket packages are available now.
