WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – No. 6 Delaware men's tennis (16-9) concluded the season with a CAA Championship Quarterfinal setback to No. 3 Elon (14-8), 4-1 on Friday evening. Due to weather, Friday's match was played indoors with singles being played first.
"We did everything we could tonight but my hat goes off to Elon as it played a better match," Director of Tennis Pablo Montana said. "I'm so proud of my guys and I am so thankful to each and everyone of them for their hard work and commitment to the program. I could not ask for a better group of young men. This is not how we wanted to finish our season but I'm proud of all the accomplishments we were able to achieve . A tremendous thank you goes to Nate Perrone for his awesomeness throughout the season and his ability to jump in and run to the roar from the get go. His motivation and fire is second to none. Thank you to Pierce Gilheany for his role and supporting our guys and coaching them up throughout the season. I am blessed to have such a great coaching staff. The future is bright for this program."
A tightly contested match all-around, the Hens saw a Daniel Krulig No. 6 singles win cut the deficit to 2-1 with three matches remaining. Elon held steady, claiming wins on four and two.
Luis Molina finishes his stellar career tied for the program record at 73 singles wins.
