Gingrich Named a Nominee for 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware offensive lineman Brock Gingrich has been named one of the nominees for the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Gingrich is one of 136 nominees across all divisions of college football.
Gingrich has appeared in 23 games over the first three seasons of his career and started in 17 of them, including all 13 games last season. In the classroom, he has been a member of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Gingrich is also heavily involved in the community.
He is a member of B+ Foundation & UDANCE - which raises money for kids with childhood cancer and supports Delaware's B+ Hero, Reps For Kids - where he ran the Family Feud station, one of the ten events where student-athletes compete against each other to ultimately raise money for the B+ Foundation, Food Bank of Delaware - where he helped run a canned food drive as part of his role in Delaware SAAC and CAA SAAC, UD Choices Committee - where oversees that all sports teams receive proper host training to help prospective student-athletes get a true UD experience, CAA SAAC Rep - which he attends monthly CAA SAAC meetings for new ideas and inspirations to help the university,  BLUE - University of Delaware's way of making sure every student gets the necessary training and help once their career is over, Sterling & TA Leadership Meetings - where he has gotten the opportunity to meet and facilitate what the team and student-athlete community goes through and get help with any problems, and Journey Church - where he has helped with numerous food drives to help underprivileged families in Newark and surrounding areas and has had opportunity to help set up their annual church baptism. Gingrich was also a prominent member of Delaware Athletics' first-ever 302 Tour, an experience that saw student-athletes get the opportunity to help serve the community while traveling and meeting different areas of the state.
Organizations that Gingrich has helped include Special Olympics by helping cheer them on and encouraging them throughout their competitions, Chicken Chase Race by helping set up and tear down their 5k race that helps the community of Dewey, and Family Health Night at Downes Elementary by playing games with kids while their parents learned the importance of health for younger children. He has also been involved in building a relationship with Danny Feltwell.
"Danny is not only our B+ Hero but him and his dad are truly great friends," Gingrich said. "I met them years ago and instantly felt the gravitation of what a kid with childhood cancer has to go through. I have helped walk him across the stage at UDANCE the last two years and have been able to hang out and watch his baseball game outside of the UD community."
Nomination Criteria
Established in 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is one of the most coveted community service awards in college football. From the 136 nominees, the final roster of 23 award recipients will bring together 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision; 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA); and one honorary head coach. To be considered for a spot on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, each player must be actively involved with a charitable organization or service group while maintaining strong academic standing.
The final 22-member team and honorary coach are selected by a voting panel of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members, current and former head coaches and journalists. They look for exceptional leadership on and off the football field. After the final team members are announced in September, fans can vote for this year's Allstate AFCA Good Works Team captain through the official page on ESPN.com/allstate.
