Khalil Dawsey Earns CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week Honors

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware football defensive back Khalil Dawsey has been named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. The award recognizes his performance during No. 19/16 Delaware's thrilling 29-25 comeback win over No. 11/12 New Hampshire on Saturday.
Dawsey was a force on defense, finishing second on the squad with eight tackles while having a hand in both of UD's takeaways. The grad student forced a fumble on the 2-yard line that the Hens recovered for a touchback on New Hampshire's first drive of the game. He came up with his first interception with the Blue Hens in the fourth quarter as Delaware's defense did not allow a score in the second half to preserve the win.
The Blue & Gold overcame an 18-point first-half deficit to come away with the 29-25 victory over the Wildcats. It was the program's biggest comeback win since the Blue Hens overcame a 21-point deficit in a 33-32 win over Towson in 2013.

The Blue Hens will have their bye week next Saturday before returning to action on Saturday, October 7 against Duquesne. The game is part of Delaware's Parents and Family Weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. and tickets are still available.
