Delaware, JMU Announce Four-Game Future Series in Football

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team has added a familiar foe to its future schedule as it prepares for its transition to Conference USA and FBS football in 2025. The Blue Hens will play a four-game series against James Madison over a six-year period with a pair of home games for each program. The series will start in 2027 and will feature games in 2028, 2031 and 2032.
The Blue Hens will host the Dukes at Delaware Stadium on September 18, 2027, as well as September 13, 2031. UD will make return trips to Harrisonburg for contests at JMU's Bridgeforth Stadium on September 9, 2028, and September 18, 2032.
Delaware and JMU are no strangers to each other on the football field, having met 27 times previously, with all but three of those meetings taking place as conference opponents. The Blue Hens hold a slim 14-13 advantage in the all-time series including an 8-6 mark at Delaware Stadium. The two teams most previously met during the 2021 season, JMU's final year as a member of the CAA.
JMU finished the 2023 season, its second year as an FBS member, with an 11-2 record and a 7-1 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The Dukes finished the season ranked No. 24 in the AP poll and qualified for the program's first-ever bowl game, playing in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
The Blue & Gold wrapped up the 2023 season with a 9-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in CAA play, advancing to the second round of the FCS Championship for the second-straight season. The nine wins were the most since the 2010 season and it is the first time UD has had consecutive eight-win campaigns since 2003-04. Delaware's offense scored at least 40 points in five games this year and surpassed 500 total yards on four occasions.
The 2024 season schedule has been announced and season tickets memberships are on sale now. Renewing members must be renewed by February 29 to guarantee the same seating and parking locations as 2023. All fans who renew or purchase tickets by this date will have the option to use the virtual venue to upgrade, add or select new seats and/or parking spaces for the upcoming season.
With an additional home game in 2024, the ticket price per game for every season ticket in the stadium decreased from last season. Due to the additional home game, the total season ticket price increased slightly from 2023. Season ticket members save up to $27 per game over individual game tickets. Furthermore, season ticket prices will not increase for renewing season ticket members for the inaugural season of FBS in 2025.
