Women's Tennis Excels at ITA Northeast Regionals

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Delaware women's tennis program had four athletes take the court at the ITA Division I Women's Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Penn this weekend.

Navya Vadlamudi, Paulina Jurkowska, Maryia Hrynashka, and Greta Schieroni all attended the competition and competed in both the singles and doubles categories. The winners of each regional championships are offered entry into the NCAA Championship.

ON THE RECORD – "I'm very pleased with how we performed this week," head coach Pablo Montana said. "We competed with the best of the best, and Navya and Greta made a deep run reaching the semifinals. We will learn from this and continue to work hard these next few weeks on our conditioning and mental toughness"

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Vadlamudi took both her qualifying singles draws in straight sets.
Hrynashka and Vadlamudi carried the Hens furthest in singles to the third round of play in the main draw.
Schieroni and Vadlamudi won four straight sets in their doubles competition where they took on Penn in the semifinals.
Over the course of the weekend, Vadlamudi picked up eight wins across her ten matches played.

GAME NOTES

This is Vadlamudi and Jurkowska's first time competing at an ITA Regional event.
Hrynashka revists the competition after attending last year with the Hens.
Schieroni competed for FAU in the DI category in 2021. Upon her transfer to Lynn, she spent two years competing in the DII category before entering the DI competition again with the Hens.
