Football has League-High 15 Student-Athletes Earn All-CAA Selections

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team had 15 student-athletes earn All-CAA postseason honors on Tuesday when the conference announced the 2024 CAA Football All-Conference Teams. The Blue Hens had two representatives on the first team, four on the second team and three more on the third team, while six were named honorable mention. The 15 total selections were the most in the conference and 12 Blue Hens earned their first All-CAA recognition.

The Blue Hens finished the 2024 season with a 9-2 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the CAA. The offense ranked 12th in the country in total offense (434.9 yards per game) and 15th in scoring offense (34.9 points per game). UD's defense ranked in the top 25 nationally in total defense (319.6 yards per game), scoring defense (21.0 points per game) and sacks per game (2.55). It was Delaware's final season in the FCS as it will move to Conference USA and the FBS level starting in 2025.

Marcus Yarns, RB, First Team
- Earned his second-straight All-CAA selection, and first nod to the first team.
- Rushed for 844 yards and six touchdowns on 133 carries in nine games, averaging 93.8 yards per game.
- Had five games with at least 100 rushing yards, including four-consecutive games to end the season.
- Caught 17 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
- Averaged 126.8 all-purpose yards per game.
- Finished his Delaware career with 2,344 rushing yards and 3,156 all-purpose yards, scoring 34 total touchdowns.
Brock Gingrich, OL, First Team
- Earned his first-career All-CAA recognition.
- Started and played in nine games in 2024, and finished his career with 45 games played.
- Helped lead an offensive line that spearheaded a rushing attack that averaged 184.3 rush yards per game. which ranked fourth in the CAA and was UD's most since 2017.
- Delaware allowed 17 sacks on the season, the fewest since allowing 11 in 2016.
Bradly Anyanwu, OL, Second Team
- Earned his first-career All-CAA selection.
- Started and played in all 11 games in 2024, and finished his career with 50 games played.
- Helped lead an offensive line that spearheaded a rushing attack that averaged 184.3 rush yards per game. which ranked fourth in the CAA and was UD's most since 2017.
- Delaware allowed 17 sacks on the season, the fewest since allowing 11 in 2016.
Jake Thaw, PR, Second Team
- Earned his first All-CAA selection in his first season in the Blue & Gold.
- Appeared in all 11 games, returning nine punts for 108 yards, averaging 12.0 yards per return.
- Had three punt returns of at least 25 yards, including a season-long return of 35 yards against Sacred Heart.
- Also caught 41 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns, ranking second on UD in all three categories.
Ty Davis, LB, Second Team
- Earned his second-straight All-CAA selection after being named to the third team in 2023.
- Ranked third on the team with 42 total tackles and had 5.0 TFLs and 3.0 sacks.
- Was a force in the passing game with two interceptions, three pass breakups and five quarterback hurries.
- Had his second-career interception return for a touchdown against Maine, a 34-yard return that helped seal the victory.
Tyron Herring, CB, Second Team
- Earned his second-straight All-CAA nod after being an honorable mention selection last season.
- Started in all 11 games, finishing with 30 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, an interception and two pass breakups.
- Had a key interception that led to a touchdown in season finale at Villanova.
Phil Lutz, WR, Third Team
- Earned his first All-CAA honors after a breakout 2024 season.
- Led the Blue Hens with 45 receptions for 863 yards and 11 touchdowns.
- Tied for the second-most receiving touchdown in a single season in Delaware history
- Ranked third in the CAA and sixth nationally in touchdown receptions.
- The 863 receiving yards were most in a Delaware season since 2013.
- His 19.2 yards per catch ranked second in the CAA and 10th nationally.
Caleb Fauria, TE, Third Team
- Earned his first All-CAA selection in his first season in the Blue & Gold.
- Played in all 11 games, catching 12 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.
- Caught his first-career touchdown pass against Sacred Heart.
KT Seay, S, Third Team
- Earned his first-career All-CAA recognition.
- Started in all 11 games and tied for fourth on the team with 38 tackles.
- Tied for the CAA lead, and eighth in the country with four interceptions.
- His four interceptions are the most by a UD player since 2017.
Anwar O'neal, OL, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first-career All-CAA recognition in his first season as a starter.
- Started in all 11 games.
- Helped lead an offensive line that spearheaded a rushing attack that averaged 184.3 rush yards per game. which ranked fourth in the CAA and was UD's most since 2017.
- Delaware allowed 17 sacks on the season, the fewest since allowing 11 in 2016.
Nate Reed, PK, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first-career All-CAA recognition.
- Set the Delaware single-season record with 47 touchbacks on 71 kickoffs.
- Finished 7-of-10 on field goals, with a long of 41 yards.
- Made 35 PAT attempts during the season and finished with 56 total points scored on the season.
Melkart Abou-Jaoude, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first-career All-CAA selection.
- Started all 11 games and finished with 24 total tackles.
- Led Delaware's defense with 9.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and eight quarterback hurries.
- Helped lead UD's defense that recorded 28 sacks on the season, the most since 2017.
Nate Evans, CB, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first All-CAA selection in his first season in the Blue & Gold.
- Appeared in all 11 games and recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 TFLs.
- Led the defense with six pass breakups.
- Recorded first-career interception against Sacred Heart.
Gavin Moul, LB, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first-career All-CAA recognition.
- Started all 11 games and led Delaware with 71 tackles.
- Ranked second with 6.0 TFLs and added two interceptions, two pass breakups and six quarterback hurries.
- Had interceptions that helped seal victories over Monmouth and Rhode Island.
Dillon Trainer, LB, Honorable Mention
- Earned his first-career All-CAA nod.
- Played in eight games and was second on the team with 44 tackles.
- Finished with 3.5 TFLs and blocked a PAT attempt against Penn.
