Tyron Herring Earns Invitation to 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware football cornerback Tyron Herring has earned an invitation to the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. Herring will join teammate Marcus Yarns at the longest-running college all-star game in the country, the 100th rendition of the game will take place on January 30, 2025, at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas and can be watched live on the NFL Network.
Herring is the eighth Blue Hen to be invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl, and it is the first time that two Blue Hens have participated in the same year. Other participants include Bilal Nichols (2017), Zach Kerr (2013), Pat Devlin (2010), Ben Patrick (2006), Sidney Haugabrook (2004) and Dennis Johnson (1972).
A semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy this season, Herring earned All-CAA Second Team honors in his final season in the Blue & Gold. He started in all 11 games, finishing with 30 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, an interception and two pass breakups. He recorded a season-high five tackles on three separate occasions against Bryant, N.C. A&T and Richmond, and had a key interception that led to a touchdown in season finale at Villanova. Herring was voted a team captain prior to the season, becoming the first transfer to earn the captain title under head coach Ryan Carty.
The Delray Beach, Florida native started 12 games in 2023, his first season with the Blue Hens, and tied for the team lead with three interceptions while finishing with 42 tackles and five pass breakups to earn All-CAA Honorable Mention honors.
Herring graduated from Dartmouth College in 2023 with a degree in government after earning All-Ivy League honors as a senior. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration (MPA) through Delaware's Joseph R. Biden School of Public Policy and Administration and spent the 2024 spring and summer as a legislative fellow with the state government in Dover.

The East-West Shrine Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the best college football players in the world to showcase their talents as top NFL Draft prospects in front of all 32 NFL teams' scouts and executives. Many of professional football's most recognized and decorated players, including legends Tom Brady, Walter Payton, John Elway and current stars Brock Purdy, Zay Flowers and Isiah Pacheco, played in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl has benefited Shriners Children's and its mission to provide excellent specialty care for children. This unique health care system provides excellent care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of the families' ability to pay for services. This special game helps raise the profile of Shriners Children, so that we can continue to offer hope and healing and reach more kids in more places. Through the experience, everyone connected with the East-West Shrine Bowl gains a deeper understanding of the amazing patients who receive care at Shriners Children's and the ways that they can support the health care system.
Season tickets for the 2025 season, Delaware's inaugural campaign at the FBS level, are on sale now. Fans who purchase season tickets by February 28, 2025 can save up to 34 percent on their season ticket packages over single-game ticket prices. The Blue Hens will play six home games at Delaware Stadium, including non-conference contests against Delaware State (Aug. 28) and UConn (Sept. 13). Season ticket members also get first access to away game tickets, including UD's games at Colorado (Sept. 6) and Wake Forest (Nov. 22). The eight-game Conference USA schedule, which consists of four home games, will be announced by February.
