Winburn Sets Career Program Wins Record; Softball Ties Longest Win Streak And Longest Conference Win Streak In Program History

NEWARK, Del. - University of Softball's Emily Winburn won her 64th career game to set a new UD program record as Delaware finished off a weekend sweep of Drexel, 2-0. Delaware has now won a program-record tying 13 straight games, along with a program-record tying 10 straight conference games.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Winburn pitched a shutout, allowing just three hits and zero walks while throwing only 65 pitches.
Chloe Blantz blasted a home run to right field.
Maddie Fife went 1-for-2 with an RBI double.
Katie Scheivert went 1-for-2 with a double and run a scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Winburn worked around hits in the first, second, and third inning.
She then pitched perfect innings in the fourth and fifth innings.
Delaware got Winburn a run in the bottom of the fifth, as Scheivert and Fife hit back-to-back doubles for the game's first run.
Another perfect inning in the sixth for Winburn kept Delaware ahead. Blantz led off the bottom half of the inning by hitting a home run to right field.
Winburn finished off the game with another perfect inning, striking out one in the seventh for a three-hit shutout.
Winburn retired the last 15 batters she faced.

GAME NOTES

Winburn now holds Delaware's all-time career wins record with 64, passing Carolynn Sloat for most in program history.
Winburn also pitched her 18th career shutout and 45th career complete game. She is tied for third with Patty Freeman for most shutouts in program history, and is seventh all-time in complete games.
Winburn's shutout was her fourth of the season and her complete game was her ninth.
In Winburn's last six games, she has four complete games, two saves, and just two earned runs allowed in 29.1 innings.
Delaware has tied a program record for most consecutive wins with 13, last done in 2000, and consecutive conference wins, last done in 2023.
Blantz hit her third career home run, and her second at home.
