NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team has announced the addition of three future opponents that will visit Delaware Stadium in the upcoming seasons. The Blue Hens will host Merrimack in 2026, LIU in 2027 and Bucknell in 2029 and each game completes the nonconference schedule for those seasons.
The contest against Merrimack will take place on September 19, 2026, and will be the first-ever matchup between the Blue Hens and Warriors. Delaware will open the season with a home game against Coastal Carolina on September 3 and will also play road games at Vanderbilt (Sept. 12) and Virginia (Sept. 26).
The Blue Hens will play another first-time opponent when they welcome LIU to Delaware Stadium for the season opener on September 2, 2027. It is the fourth game on the slate for 2027 as UD will also travel to Penn State (Sept. 11) before hosting James Madison (Sept. 17) and closing the season at UConn (Nov. 27).
The game against Bucknell will be played on September 8, 2029, and is the home opener for the Blue & Gold. The two programs have met 33 times in their series history, with UD holding a 22-11 advantage including winning 11 of the past 12 meetings. Delaware will open the season at Pitt (Sept. 1) and then will open a home-and-home series with Buffalo (Sept. 15) in Newark before wrapping up the series with the Chanticleers (Sept. 22) in Conway, South Carolina.
Delaware has also completed its nonconference schedule for its inaugural FBS season in 2025. The Blue Hens will open the season at home against Delaware State (Aug. 28) before traveling to Colorado (Sept. 6) for a matchup with the Buffs. UD will welcome its first FBS opponent to Delaware Stadium when UConn makes the trip to Newark on September 13. Delaware's previously-announced game at Wake Forest in 2025 has been moved back a couple of months and will now be played on November 22, 2025.
The Blue & Gold have also announced nonconference games for the 2028, 2030, 2031 and 2032 seasons. For a list of all future opponents, please click here.
The 2024 season will open on Thursday, August 29 when the Blue Hens host Bryant for a 7 p.m. contest. Delaware will play seven home games at Delaware Stadium, including four CAA matchups. Tickets for the 2024 season are on sale now with fans able to purchase season tickets, partial plan packages and single game tickets for all home games except UD's Parents & Family Weekend contest against Sacred Heart (Sept. 28), which will go on sale on July 17. Fans can buy tickets to Parents and Family weekend now by purchasing season tickets or within a partial plan package.
With an additional home game in 2024, the ticket price per game for every season ticket in the stadium decreased from last season. Due to the additional home game, the total season ticket price increased slightly from 2023. Season ticket members save up to $27 per game over individual game tickets. Furthermore, season ticket prices will not increase for renewing season ticket members for the inaugural season of FBS in 2025.
