Women’s Golf Opens Season with Win at Badger Invitational

VERONA, Wisc. – The University of Delaware women's golf team opened the 2024-25 season in dominant fashion, coming away with a seven-stroke victory at the 13-team Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Blue Hens finished at the top of a field that included five Power Four programs and three other teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships. Play was held at the par-72, 6,248-yard University Ridge Golf Course.

Delaware will be back on the road this weekend as the squad travels to Penn State for the Nittany Lion Invitational. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held September 14-15 at the Penn State Blue Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens totaled 35 birdies over the three day, 72-hole tournament, including 22 during Monday's second round when they carded a team score of 6-under par. Delaware was the only team to score under par on the day as it opened up a 12-stroke lead on the field.
- Dunigan had a strong first showing in the Blue & Gold with a top-five finish. She carded six total birdies, including four on Monday when she turned in a 2-under par 70.
- Henkel led the Blue Hens with 10 total birdies including six in the second round as she fired a 3-under par 69.
- Khokhlova was at even par following 36 holes as she carded seven birdies.
- Playing in their first collegiate tournaments, Kim and Sawant both had bright moments as they combined for nine total birdies and Kim carded an even par scorecard on Monday.
