WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - University of Delaware football K Nate Reed was named one of the three Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Stars of the Week after his performance against LA Tech, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Wednesday.
Reed tallied a career day for the Fightin' Blue Hens in a 25-24 come-from-behind win over LA Tech. With 1:49 remaining, Reed converted his second onside kick of the season, which was followed up with the eventual game-winning field goal with 12 seconds remaining. The 51-yard game winner was a career long and gave Reed a career-best four field goals made in the game, which tied the most in a game in program history. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 1/1 on extra points.
Reed's 51-yard field goal is the seventh-longest field goal in program history. His two connections from 40 or more yards tied the most in a single game in program history. His current streak of eight-consecutive field goals places him in a tie for the fifth-longest streak in school history.
The Blue Hens will head to Texas to take on Sam Houston on Saturday, November 15 at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.
