Football Scores Most Points Since 2000 in 61-31 Win Over UTEP to Earn Sixth Victory of First FBS Season

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- UD's 61 points are the most since September 23, 2000 when it shutout West Chester 84-0.
- UD picked up a season-high in TFLs with 14. That number ties for the seventh-most in a game in the nation this season.
- Delaware's six turnovers (five interceptions and one fumble) are the most forced by the team under Ryan Carty.
- The 26 rushing yards against for the Hens are the fewest allowed under Carty, surpassing the 36 yards given up against New Hampshire on September 23, 2023.
- After finding 10 targets, UD has found at least eight different pass catchers in 10 of 12 games this season and 10 or more in seven games.
- QB Nick Minicucci completed 24-of-38 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns. He added 47 yards on the ground and his 10th-rushing score of the campaign.
- K Nate Reed set the single-game record for kicking points with 19. He tied a career and program-high with four field goals in the contest, including a long of 45.
- CB Jamarion Kolagbodi reeled in his first-career interception just nine seconds into the contest.
- TE Scott Moore scored his first-career touchdown on a four-yard reception.
- LB Gavin Moul recorded 13 tackles in the game and a fumble recovery that was returned for a touchdown. The fumble return touchdown was the first for the Blue Hen since DE Ethan Saunders returned a fumble for a 20-yard touchdown on September 28, 2024 against Sacred Heart. His 10+ tackles marked the sixth time this season he's done so and became the 37th player in program history to surpass the 100-tackle threshold in a season.
- S Mysonne Pollard collected two interceptions, marking the second time in his career he has recorded two in one game, the last being earlier this season at FIU. He also forced the fumble that Moul returned for a touchdown.
- DE Noah Matthews registered his first-career full sack, finishing the contest with a career-best 1.5 sacks.
- WR Jake Thaw tied a career mark with two touchdown catches, including a career-long 51-yard score in the third quarter. He has two touchdown receptions this season of 50 or more yards.
- WR Kyre Duplessis caught four passes for 104 yards, including 68 yards after catch. It was the second-time in his career he passed the century mark.
- DT James Yelbert Jr. recorded career highs in tackles (five), sacks (2.0), and TFLs (2.0).
- RB Greg Spiller ripped off a career-long 55-yard run for his first-career touchdown.
- S Nasir Eatmon intercepted a pass for the second-straight week.
- LB Marje Mulumba tied his career-high with nine tackles to go with 1.5 TFLs and a pass breakup.
- CB Nate Evans tallied his second interception of the season and third of his career.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UTEP got the ball to start the game, but threw an interception to Delaware's Kolagbodi on the first play from scrimmage. UD capitalized on the possession, as Minicucci ran it in from 17-yards out to put the Hens ahead 7-0.
- The Miners answered with a 49-yard passing touchdown to even the game at seven with 8:51 to go in the opening quarter.
- Minicucci found Moore in the corner of the endzone to put the Hens back in front 14-7 with 14:26 to go in the opening half.
- Reed knocked in a 37-yard field goal to increase the Blue & Gold's lead to 17-7.
- Pollard forced a fumble that was recovered by Moul that he took 16-yards to the house to put the Hens ahead by 17.
- UTEP connected for a 64-yard touchdown with 5:05 left in the second quarter to cut the UD lead to 10.
- Silver broke a tackle and scampered into the endzone for a two-yard touchdown on the ground with 2:01 left in the first half, leaving Delaware with a 31-14 lead.
- Pollard corralled the Hens defense's second interception of the first half with 1:32 left.
- After a defensive stop by UTEP, the Miners found themselves in the endzone thanks to a two-yard touchdown pass with four seconds left in the first half to make it 31-20 after a failed two-point attempt.
- Minicucci heaved a 51-yard touchdown to Thaw to take a 38-23 lead with 4:38 left in the third quarter.
- Delaware's third defensive interception of the game set the Blue Hens offense up at the UTEP 41-yardline with 4:18 left in the third quarter thanks to Evans. Reed converted a 20-yard field goal to put the Hens ahead 41-23.
- The Miners answered with a 68-yard touchdown pass and a successful two-point conversion to return it to a 10-point lead for UD with 1:09 left in the third quarter.
- A seven-yard strike from Minicucci to Thaw put the Hens up 48-31 with 8:02 left in regulation.
- A second Pollard pick, followed by a 55-yard rushing touchdown from Spiller put the Hens over the 50-point mark.
- Eatmon intercepted UTEP for the team's fifth of the contest before Reed tacked on a 32-yard field goal with 2:09 left to put Delaware up 58-31.
- Reed added a 45-yard field goal as time expired to make the final score 61-31.
GAME NOTES
- This marked the third time scoring 50 or more points under Carty.
- Delaware has now won 12 of its last 13 home games.
- UD moved to 8-0 when wearing black uniforms under Carty.

- UD scored 31 points in the first half, marking the most points scored by Delaware in a half since it scored 31 against Maine on October 12, 2024.

- The Blue Hens tallied a season-best 527 yards of offense, surpassing the mark of 512 set in the overtime win against UConn.
- Minicucci's 38 passing attempts brought him to 453 on the season, giving him the second-most attempts in a single season in program history behind Joe Flacco (521, 2007). His 24 completions now gives him 303 in 2025, putting him in second place all-time in a season behind Flacco (331, 2007). Minicucci now places second in total yards in a season with 3,738, trailing Flacco (4,285, 2007). The signal-caller now ranks second all-time in passing yards in a season with 3,507, trailing only Flacco (4,263, 2007). Minicucci finds himself tied with Flacco (2007) for most 300-yard passing performances in a single season in program history with seven. He is now in sole possession of second place in career 300-yard passing games with seven, trailing Flacco's 11. Minicucci is the first Delaware QB with 10 or more rushing touchdowns in a single season since Bill Vergantino had 17 in 1992.
- Brose and Hall moved into a tie for third-most games played all-time in a Blue & Gold uniform with 55, tying with Fintan's brother, Braden, and Kedrick Whitehead.
- Reed set the record for most 40+ yard field goals in a season in program history with 7.
- CB Alex Adebayo and Quick made their collegiate debuts, while WR Dan Parisi made his season debut.
