Women’s Basketball Drops Final Non-Conference Game at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team fell at Harvard, 70-63, on Monday. The Fightin' Blue Hens drop to 6-6, while the Crimson rise to 7-6.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware (45.1-percent) outshot Harvard (35.8-percent) in the contest.
- Ande'a Cherisier scored a season-best 18 points to lead the team with six boards, three steals and a block.
- Safi Kolliegbo had 11 points with five rebounds and two steals.
- Lay Fantroy rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting to go with four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard jumped out to an 11-point lead before the Blue Hens got on the board by way of a Cherisier layup, starting the momentum for a 9-0 run over the next 1:47 for UD. The Crimson ended the first 10 minutes up by four, leading 20-16.
- The home team held a 30-22 advantage midway through the second frame. Delaware held Harvard scoreless for 3:48 as part of a 7-0 run to cut it to 30-27. UD trimmed it to a one-point game as the Crimson led 33-32 heading into the locker room.
- At the third quarter media timeout, Delaware trailed 41-38 with five minutes left in the stanza. With under a minute to go in the quarter, UD drew even at 45 for the first time since the opening tip. Harvard retook the lead, holding a 47-45 advantage heading into the fourth.
- The Blue & Gold took its first lead of the game with 7:07 to go in regulation, leading 54-52 on a Fantroy jumper. With exactly five minutes left in the period, Delaware and Havard sat in a 57-57 tie. Harvard pulled ahead 65-59 with 1:20 left before Chersier made a layup to force a Crimson timeout with a four-point game. A pair of Harvard free throws made it 67-61 with 26 ticks left, a deficit the Hens could not overcome.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware ended its non-conference schedule with a 6-6 record.
- The Blue Hen defense held the Crimson to 3-20 (15.0-percent) from beyond-the-arc, the lowest an opponent has shot from deep this season.
