#7 Women’s Basketball's Season Ends Against #2 Charleston in CAA Championship Quarterfinals

WASHINGTON – The seventh-seeded University of Delaware women's basketball team season came to an end against the second-seeded Charleston Cougars, 87-49 on Friday night. The Blue Hens finish at 13-17 (9-9 CAA), while the Cougars continue on at 24-6 (14-4 CAA).
HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot 40-percent from three in the first half.
- Tara Cousins scored 16 points to lead the Hens.
- Rebecca Demeke tallied 12 points to join Cousins in double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cousins opened the scoring with a three-pointer 1:29 into the game. At the game's initial media stoppage, the two teams were tied at eight with 3:40 to go in the first quarter. Charleston scored 11-unanswered over 4:27 to open up an eight-point to end the first quarter.
- The Cougars outscored the Hens 20-16 in the second frame to take a 36-24 lead into the locker room.
- Charleston opened up a 17-point lead with 5:35 left in the third quarter, leading to a Sarah Jenkins timeout.
- The lead reached as much as 42 in the fourth quarter for the Cougars.
GAME NOTES
- UD's all-time record in the CAA Tournament finishes at 31-19.
UP NEXT
Delaware will play its inaugural season in Conference USA in 2025-26.
