NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football program signed Keontae Jenkins, head coach Ryan Carty announced Tuesday. Jenkins joins the Blue Hens after spending the previous two seasons at Coastal Carolina. Jenkins is the brother of current Blue Hen cornerback Nate Evans.
Jenkins, a South Norfolk, Virginia native graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2020. The 5-10 cornerback is a former consensus four-star recruit and had signed with TCU before transferring to Coastal Carolina. He was rated as the No. 19 cornerback in the nation by 247Sports, the No. 5 overall player in Virginia by 247Sports and ESPN, No. 244 in the ESPN 300, and ranked as high as the 253rd-best player in the country in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Known for his speed, Jenkins won The Opening's fastest man competition at the New Jersey Regional. He selected the Horned Frogs out of high school over other notable offers from LSU, Michigan, Auburn, Baylor, Wisconsin, Penn State, Florida, and Florida State. He's set to graduate this May from Coastal Carolina with his bachelor's degree.
In his three seasons in Fort Worth, Texas, Jenkins appeared in 15 games, recording three tackles primarily on special teams before suffering a season-ending injury in 2022. After moving to Coastal Carolina, the impending graduate transfer appeared in 10 combined games in 2023 and 2024, notching eight tackles and a pass breakup.
Jenkins is the first four-star recruit out of high school by 247Sports to land with Delaware in program history.
