NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football program signed Viron Ellison Jr., head coach Ryan Carty announced Friday. Ellison joins the Blue Hens after spending the 2024 campaign with Tulsa. Ellison is the nephew of former Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers WR Patrick Crayton.
As a true freshman, Ellison appeared in 11 games for the Golden Hurricane, rushing 62 times for 353 yards and one score, while adding 14 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Ellison, a Lewisville, Texas native, graduated from Lewisville High School in 2024. The 6-0 running back is a former three-star recruit by Rivals, On3, and 247Sports after starting three seasons at Lewisville. Ranked as the 65th player in the Dallas area by the Dallas News, Ellison helped lead the Farmers to a three-year record of 31-7. The Texan rushed for 3,136 yards and 33 touchdowns in high school, while also recording 36 receptions for 459 yards and five TDs. Ellison's best game came against Coppell High School as he tallied 387 scrimmage yards with four touchdowns. In addition to running back, the versatile athlete played safety and ran track.
