NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware softball has announced the addition of transfer Kylie Wilkerson, a pitcher from George Mason.Â
"Kylie is going to be a great addition to our pitching staff," head coach Jen Steele said. "She is fundamentally sound, has competitive velocity, and has the ability to attack different parts of the strike zone. Although these physical attributes will help her be successful, she's a student of the game and is very coachable, ready to attack her development plan. She's going to thrive in the Hen Pen, giving us a different look than the rest of our arms and preparing us for a strong first season in CUSA."
From Warrenton, Va., Wilkerson pitched in 44 games and made 23 starts in two seasons with the Patriots, posting a 3.81 ERA. In 2025, she posted a 3.83 ERA across 76.2 innings in 22 appearances and ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 with three saves. Wilkerson threw complete games against Ohio, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, UMass, and Saint Louis, including a shutout of URI on March 15 where she allowed just three hits and struck out five. In two games against Saint Louis, the A10 Champions, she recorded a 2.62 ERA in eight innings. As a freshman in 2024, Wilkerson was named A10 Rookie of the Week on Feb. 27 and finished the season with a 3.79 ERA in 92.1 innings. She made her collegiate debut in a win over Villanova on Feb. 16 with two shutout innings and struck out three.Â
Wilkerson becomes Delaware's first transfer addition of the 2025 offseason. The Blue Hens have had notable success navigating the transfer portal in recent years, having brought in former CAA Pitcher of the Year and All-Region selection Billie Kerwood, two-time All-Region honoree Morgan Hess, CAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region selection Mary Beth Cahalan, CAA Defensive Player of the Year Kiara Mills, All-Region selection Julia Boyet, and All-Region selection and 2023 ERA leader Taylor Wroten. Over the winter, Middle Tennessee State transfer Claire Woods joined the Blue Hens to compete with UD during the 2026 season.Â
Delaware had a historic season in 2025 that led to its third CAA Regular Season Championship in four seasons. The Blue Hens broke numerous program records during the year including home runs, doubles, strikeouts, conference wins, consecutive conference wins, run-rule victories, consecutive run-rule victories, and postseason honors in a season. The 23 conference wins were the most ever by a CAA team. Delaware is one of eight Division I teams with at least 20 conference wins in the last two seasons. UD will compete as a member of Conference USA starting in 2026.Â
