Late Game Goal From Groh Leads Women's Soccer to Win Over William & Mary

NEWARK, Del. – A late game goal from Maggie Groh propelled the University of Delaware women's soccer program to a 1-0 win against William & Mary on Friday at Grant Stadium.

With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens overall record improves to 7-0-2.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Taisiya Reid led the Blue Hens in three shots. Sophia Zeppos was the other Blue Hen with multiple shots with two.
Sophia Hall started in goal and collected a career-high eight saves.
Hall and Maura Fisher led in minutes played with 90.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tribe held a 13-5 shots advantage in the first half, including a 3-0 shots on goal advantage.
Groh played hero with less than five minutes left in the second half. Reid's shot was saved by the diving goalkeeper. Groh sprinted towards the ball and tapped it into the back of the net.

GAME NOTES

The Blue Hens are off to their best start in program history at 7-0-2 and finished non-conference play undefeated.
Hall's eight saves is tied for the most under third-year head coach Kelly Lawrence.
Groh's goal is her team-leading fourth of the season.
This is the first win under Lawrence when the team allowed more than 21 shots.
