Men's Tennis Has Successful Weekend at Blue Hen Invite

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team competed in its home tournament against Temple, Drexel, and Georgetown for its first event under interim head coach Nate Perrone.
The Fightin' Blue Hens went 15-6 across all singles matches and won seven of 11 doubles matches over the three-day event.
ON THE RECORD
I would like to thank Georgetown, Drexel, and Temple for being a part of our home invite, Perrone said. Luckily, the weather cooperated, and we got some great matches all weekend. I am proud of the way our team fought out there. It is just the start, and we can do so many things better. We will learn from this and look forward to next weekend at Saint Joseph's.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Federico Garbero went 6-0 on the weekend, coming out on top in his first six matches as a Blue Hen. The sophomore played to a 3-0 record in both singles and doubles action.
- Itamar Tapiro won five of his six matches played across the three days, including a 3-0 mark in doubles alongside Garbero.
- Luke Tollenaar registered a 3-0 singles record.
- Mason Robins recorded victories in both of his singles matches.
- The Hens outlasted Temple in all seven singles bouts
GAME NOTES
- Tollenaar and Garbero earned their first victories since joining the Blue & Gold.
- Prat registered his first collegiate and Delaware win.
- Both Delaware tennis teams swept their first home events of the season, with the women's squad doing so a week ago.
