Football Welcomes LIU Transfer Safety Jalen Bell

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware football has added LIU FCS AP All-American S Jalen Bell as a mid-year enrollee, head coach Ryan Carty announced Saturday. Bell joins the Fightin' Blue Hens with two years of eligibility remaining and will play linebacker for UD.
In 2025 at LIU, the 6-1, 192-pound safety led the Sharks with 72 tackles, adding four pass breakups, two interceptions, and one forced fumble this season. He is the second LIU player to earn AP All-America recognition in program history. His play also earned him First Team All-NEC after finishing 10th in the league in tackles.
Bell graduated from Osceola High School in 2024 where he played four seasons of football and also participated in basketball and track & field. On the gridiron, the Kissimmee, Fla. native earned four varsity letters, having started his junior and senior seasons as a captain. The 2023 Central Florida Defensive Player of the Year also earned 2023 Osceola County Player of the Year and was a two-time first team all-county and all-state honoree. His team was the state runner up in 2020. In track & field, Bell was a triple jump state qualifier for a district regional runner up team.
Born in Orlando, Fla. to parents Taiwana and Nathaniel Bell, he has eight siblings: Shawnta, Ciera, Sharonda, Laronda, Keithaniel, Gunnard, Dennis, and Nathaniel. While in elementary school, Bell was the Osceola County chess champion. At UD, he intends to major in sport management.
