NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware's K Nate Reed has been selected as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Second Team Academic All-America, the organization announced Tuesday. Reed becomes the 14th academic all-american in program history and first since OL Collin Wallish in 2018. Prior to that, a Fightin' Blue Hen hadn't been selected for the nation's highest academic honor since 2004.
To be considered for the Academic All-America Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 90 percent of the institution's contests or started in at least 66 percent of those contests. The team is then voted on by members of CSC.
Reed is a graduate student who holds a 3.92 cumulative GPA while majoring in statistics. This is the second year in-a-row that he has earned CSC Academic All-District honors. The kicker made his mark on the record book in 2025, setting the record for kicking points in a game (19), as well as kicking the most touchbacks in program history (101). He went 3-for-3 on onside kicks this season, helping Delaware become just the fourth team in the last 10 seasons to do so, and the only one to have a 100-percent success rate. He tied a program record of four field goals in two games this season, en route to earning an All-CUSA Second Team laurel.
