NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware football's Fintan Brose, Anthony Caccese, Nick Laboy, Max Patterson, Nate Reed, Ethan Saunders, Jo Silver, and Jake Thaw were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced.
To be considered for the Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 90 percent of the institution's contests or started in at least 66 percent of those contests.
Saunders, Silver, and Thaw are in their third-straight season receiving this recognition, while Reed has picked up this nod in each of the last two seasons.
Two team captains (Brose and Saunders) and five members of the team's leadership council (Brose, Reed, Saunders, Silver, and Thaw) earned this honor in 2025.
Brose, a graduate student, working towards earning his Master's in Business Administration, anchored the offensive line while holding a 3.63 cumulative GPA. Brose played and started in all 13 games in his graduate season. He allowed only three sacks all season, including none in the final eight regular season games, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). Brose was named All-CUSA First Team in 2025. He will compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl and the Hula Bowl before embarking on the NFL Draft process this spring.
Caccese, a junior offensive lineman and finance major, started in all 13 games on the line on the year, only allowing three sacks on the season, according to PFF. He holds a cumulative GPA of 3.50 through his time in Newark.
Laboy, a graduate student majoring in international business, has a 3.93 GPA since coming to Newark, joining the Fightin' Blue Hens after graduating with a pre-med degree from Cornell. He had 10 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns in 2025, while appearing in all 13 games, highlighted by a two-reception, two-touchdown performance at FIU.
Patterson, a communication major, appeared in all 13 games, making 19 catches for 257 yards, while reeling in three touchdowns. The senior from Arlington, Va., holds a 3.61 cumulative GPA.
Reed, who was also named a CSC Academic All-America Finalist, advancing to the national ballot, is a graduate student who holds a 3.92 cumulative GPA while majoring in statistics. This is the second year in-a-row that he has earned CSC Academic All-District honors. The kicker made his mark on the record book in 2025, setting the record for kicking points in a game (19), as well as kicking the most touchbacks in program history (101). He went 3-for-3 on onside kicks this season, helping Delaware become just the fourth team in the last 10 seasons to do so, and the only one to have a 100-percent success rate. He tied a program record of four field goals in two games this season, en route to earning an All-CUSA Second Team laurel.
Saunders appeared in 48-consecutive games in Newark to wrap up his career after joining the team as a walk-on in 2020. The graduate student, majoring in strategic leadership, holds a 3.91 cumulative GPA and earns this award for the third-straight season. He appeared in all 13 games, making four starts in 2025. Saunders picked up 22 tackles, including 1.5 sacks and 2.5 TFLs on the year.
Silver picks up his third All-District honor in a row after a stellar 2025 on the field and in the classroom. The health behavior science major paired a 3.64 cumulative GPA with 652 rushing yards and five touchdowns. In the air, Silver caught 29 passes for 222 yards and a score. The senior was named the MVP of the 68 Ventures Bowl, in which he carried the ball 14 times for 116 yards and a score.
Thaw, an international business major, from Staples, Conn., earns his third All-District plaudit in as many years, by holding a cumulative GPA of 3.97. The wide receiver played and started in 10 games, catching 31 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns.Â
