DALLAS – University of Delaware football took home three Conference USA weekly awards for its efforts against Missouri State, the league announced Monday. QB Nick Minicucci earned CUSA's Offensive Player of the Week award, LB Jawarren Corbin was named the league's defensive player of the week, and OL Steven Demboski won the CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week award. Each of the awards are the first of the season for all three Fightin' Blue Hens.
Minicucci was firing on all cylinders in UD's 61-38 win over Missouri State as he returned after missing two games due to injury. Minicucci matched the UD single-game record with five passing touchdowns, going 20-for-29 through the air for 225 yards. He added a rushing score to tie his career-best six total touchdowns in a game. The Blue & Gold scored on nine-straight drives and 10-of-11 overall, not including the two drives that ended in kneel downs to conclude the second and fourth quarters. UD scored 30-unanswered points in the second half before MSU's field goal. Minicucci's 225 passing yards in the game moves him to 6,045 for his career, passing former NFL MVP Rich Gannon for sixth on the Delaware all-time career passing yards list. Minicucci's five passing touchdowns in the game moves him to 48 for his career, passing Bill Vergantino for third on the Delaware all-time career passing touchdowns list. Minicucci surpassed the 200-passing yard mark for the 16th time in his career, matching Pat Devlin for fourth most by a Blue Hen.
Corbin tallied his first-career interception, first-career forced fumble, first-career sack, and a career-best six tackles in the win over Missouri State, accounting for two of the team's three forced turnovers. Corbin made his second-career start, stepping in for the team's leading tackler, Colin Gallagher.
Demboski led the charge for the Fightin' Blue Hens offensive line against Missouri State. The 61 points by the Blue & Gold tied the most points scored under Ryan Carty (UTEP, 2025). On the ground, the Hens rushed for a season-best 232 yards, more than double the previous season high (112) and the most since last year's 44-41 win over UConn on September 13 when the Hens rushed for 247 yards. Demboski was named Conference USA's Offensive Lineman of the Week after the performance against the Huskies.
The FIghtin' Blue Hens head to WKU for a Tuesday night matchup with the Hilltoppers. The game will air at 7 p.m. ET on CBSSN.
