DALLAS – Senior forward Taisiya Reid from the University of Delaware women's soccer program was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Reid earns the conference player of the week honors for the first time in her collegiate career. She is the fourth Fightin' Blue Hen, along with Maggie Groh, Cassandra Saldarini and Adiat Olaogun-Dickson, to earn a conference weekly honor this season.
The Solomons, Maryland native led the offense with three goals over the span of two games to help UD earn six points in conference play, with wins over FIU and Kennesaw State on the road.
Against FIU on Thursday, she scored the game-winning goal 29 seconds into the second half. Reid received an excellent cross from Maura Fisher, out-ran the entire defense and scored on the goalkeeper in a 1-on-1 scenario. In Sunday's win over Kennesaw State, she scored both her goals in the 70th and 90th minute of the second half.
Reid becomes the second player this season, along with Groh, to score three goals in the span of two games.
UD enters the weekend with an 8-2-3 overall record, and a 3-0-0 record in CUSA play. Delaware will host the conference championship at Grant Stadium from November 8-13.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens return to Grant Stadium and welcome Western Kentucky on Sunday, October 11 at noon. It is UD's first of two-straight home CUSA contests.
