Women’s Golf Opens Spring with a Tie for Fifth at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. – The University of Delaware women's golf team opened its spring season at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer, where the Fightin' Blue Hens tied for fifth place in a challenging 15-team field. The Blue & Gold turned in a three-round score of 35-over par 899 at the par-72, 6,107-yard Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

The Blue Hens will return to action next week when it travels to Charleston, South Carolina for the Daniel Island Invitational. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held March 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens totaled 46 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, including 19 during Friday's opening round.
- Kim turned in a 1-under par 71 on Friday to climb 17 spots and solidify her first top-10 finish of the year. She totaled five birdies over her three rounds.
- Dunigan dropped seven birdies over her 54 holes, including three on Sunday as she climbed up seven spots in the individual standings.
- Sawant held the individual lead for most of Friday's first round, sitting at 5-under par through her first 12 holes. She carded a 1-under par 71 for the round and finished with a team-high 11 birdies for the tournament.
- Malosh turned in her best scorecard of the season, recording seven total birdies to finish at 7-over par and among the top 20.
OF NOTE
- Weather altered the schedule early in the weekend. Teams played the first round and half of the second round on Friday, before finishing the second round on Saturday. The final 18 holes were played Sunday.
