Women’s Golf Fires Low Team Round on Tuesday, Places Fifth at Riverbend Intercollegiate

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Delaware women's golf team fired the lowest round of any team on Tuesday, moving up to finish in fifth place at the 16-team Riverbend Intercollegiate, hosted by Houston Christian University. The Fightin' Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 25-over par 889 at the par-72, 6,153-yard Riverbend Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens totaled 38 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, including 15 during Tuesday's final round.
- Sawant matched her lowest round of the season during Monday's opening 18 holes, carding three birdies to shoot a 1-under par 71. She had five more birdies on Tuesday as she turned in a 1-over par 73.
- Malosh recorded her third-straight 54-hole score of 7-over par 223 as she finished the tournament with an even-par 72 and a season-best 1-under 71 on Tuesday. She finished with six total birdies.
- Dunigan had three of her eight total birdies on Tuesday as she carded a 2-under par 70 to climb into the top 25 of the individual standings.
- Gooneratne fired her first under par round of the spring on Monday, turning in a 1-under par 71 over the first 18 holes of the tournament.
OF NOTE
- The team score of 2-over par 290 was Delaware's lowest round in three tournaments this spring, and sixth-lowest of the season.
